OUR STORY

The Grove Community is a church plant in partnership with the Eden Network and the Church of England. In 2016, Mark and Laura Tate were sent by St Pauls Ealing in partnership with St Stephen’s Ealing onto the Gurnell Grove estate.

The Tates moved onto the estate with a vision to see church form and grow where local residents could meet Jesus and be discipled. Since then they have seen the birth of various community initiatives including an after school Kids club, a Community lunch and an OAP club. A highlight of their work on the Grove is hosting Bingo Church - a monthly bingo night for residents which includes a short talk and opportunity for prayer.

Christmas has become a great opportunity to gather and share the love of Jesus. One of the things to ermine has been Winter Wonderland were they transform the centre of the estate into a Winter wonderland with a skate rink, donkey rides, Christmas market and hundreds from the community came out to enjoy the fun. They also run have an annual camping trip for residents in the summer.

In 2019 a community worker joined our team in a part-time role. Over time, we have seen several residents on the estate make a commitment to follow Jesus. Paula is one of those people and in 2020 became part of the team.

Our VISION

A healthy, growing church community in the heart of the Gurnell Grove estate through which hundreds of local people become disciples of Jesus.

Our Values

Jesus - Its all about Jesus. We do what we do because of him and want to tell everyone about him so that they can know him too.

Hope - We are people of hope. Jesus came to give a new future and life to all. Nothing is impossible for him.

Community - Listening to & working together, we will serve one another and become great friends. "There are no strangers here; only friends you haven't yet met."

Broken Beautiful - We are all broken yet all beautiful. God takes our brokenness and turns it into something beautiful because he is in the business of restoration.

Fun - We will have fun and we will laugh together. We will never underestimate the importance of it.

Love - We are motivated by love, a love that is sacrificial, deep and real. We want to be people that love even when it costs.

Risk - “No one ever achieved greatness by playing it safe (Harry Gray).” We will take risks and be adventurers together. We may fall down from time to time, but together, we will stand up stronger.

Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
